About Us

COCOKIM is our brand under Kriya Innovation Mandara Cooperative (KIM), established in 2020 in Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. The cooperative was driven by a deep concern for the untapped potential of coconut husk, which has long been underutilized and often treated as waste in local communities. KIM was founded with a spirit of innovation and empowerment, transforming coconut husk into high-value products such as cocopeat, cocofiber, organic fertilizer, and various handicrafts. One of KIM's core missions is to empower women, especially single mothers. The cooperative believes that every product created is not merely a commodity, but a symbol of women’s resilience and their pursuit of a better life. KIM is committed to becoming a pioneer in developing coconut-based industries in East Kalimantan, while making a tangible impact on both the environment and community welfare.

The PUSAKA Program (Pusat Usaha Sabut Kelapa) is a collaborative initiative between Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) and Koperasi Kriya Inovasi Mandara (KIM) that focuses on empowering communities through training, mentoring, and developing coconut husk-based businesses.

MSME Story from the Capital City (IKN): In Need of Business Partners to Grow

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) processing coconut husks from Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) Regency hope to gain support from business partners. Rusni Febriyanti, Chairperson of Kriya Inovasi Mandara (KIM) SME, stated that as a progressive step in the coconut processing industry, her team has successfully produced cocopeat for the past seven years.

Empowering Women: PHKT Collaborates with KIM to Hold Coconut Husk Training

The trainers were brought directly from Yogyakarta, namely from Omah Sabut Kelapa (OESAKA). They provided training on creating various products from coconut husk waste—such as tissue boxes, brooms, bags, and many other items—to a dozen participants from the Siloloang community.

Coconut is one of the most widely grown plants in Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia, which is among the world’s largest coconut producers. But have you ever thought that coconut husks can be processed into materials used for coastal abrasion control and chicken claw foundations? In the hands of Rusni Febrianti, coconut husks that once had no market value have now become high-value commodities in great demand.
